Abstract

This paper deals with principle of a new generation topology which is named "active generator" and which works in high speed (85 Hz). Using of this system in gas power plant able to eliminate the gearbox for adaptation of two different frequencies and using its advantages is the main idea. Natural commutated matrix converter (NCMC) with four phase classic synchronous generator considered as an active generator is studied when is connected to three phase electrical power grid. Study will be focused for knowing its behaviour in this connection and active, reactive power transferring in fundamental frequencies by variation of initial rotor position and excitation in generator. A simplified scheme besides the single phase equivalent for set of system in grid side is suggested, so that it permits to assume a linear model for set of system with regarding to initial rotor position and excitation of generator in steady state.
