Ferroelectric Phase Transition in Rb<sub>2</sub>Cb<sub>2</sub>(SO<sub>4</sub>)<sub>3</sub>

Dielectric and elastic measurements were made on Rb 2 Cd 2 (SO 4 ) 3 crystal which has a langbeinite-type structure. It was found that Rb 2 Cd 2 (SO 4 ) 3 undergoes phase transitions at -144°C and -170°C successively. The low temperature phases are both polar and the polarization is reversed by the application of the electric field. It is thus concluded that the two low temperature phases are ferroelectric.
