A shortened MK82 has been simulated using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) for the purpose of comparison with an experiment for which high-quality framing camera photography is available. An evolving scalar damage model responding to both shear and tensile damage is used to calculate the breakup of the MK82 case. The SPH predicted fragment mass distributions for the shortened bomb and for an entire bomb are compared against test data.
