NP education: observations from a national perspective.

Abstract

During the past decade (1976-1986), both the number of nurse practitioner programs and the federal funding of those programs peaked. The majority of programs now offer a master's rather than a certificate and the orientation of the curriculum changed from treatment of disease to health promotion.
