Abstract

The electrical conductivities of series of meta, ortho and sesqui silicates of iron and calcium‐iron were determined in an especially constructed iron crucible heated in an electric furnace. A sharp break in conductivity was found at the freezing points of these slags. The higher the CaO content, the poorer the conductivity. The sesquisilicates show a lower conductivity than the monosilicates. Data are tabulated and plotted.
