Over two-thirds of patients who experience disease recurrence of urothelial carcinoma of the bladder after RC die within 12 months. Common clinicopathological factors are strongly associated with cancer-specific mortality. A shorter time from surgery to disease recurrence is significantly associated with poor outcomes. Accurate risk stratification could help in patient counselling and decision-making regarding salvage treatment.
