Abstract

Antibodies can be labelled with radioactive sulfur (S35) without destruction of antibody specificity, by coupling the antiserum with diazotized aminobenzene-sulfonic acid containing S35. Anti-mouse-kidney serum thus labelled showed specific localization in the glomeruli of mouse kidneys. The duration of localization of S35-labelled antibodies was similar to that of I131-labelled antibodies. However, S35-labelled proteins appeared to be picked up nonspecifically by liver and kidney tissue to a greater extent than radioiodinated proteins, and remained in these tissues for a longer time.
