Summary The polyribosome patterns of several hepatomas have been compared with that of liver. In contrast to liver the hepatomas are characterized by: (a) a relatively higher proportion of monomers and the lighter polyribosomes, (b) a lower and variable proportion of the heavier polyribosomes, (c) a polyribosome complement which, after release from the cell, sediments through 2.0 m sucrose without detergent treatment, and (d) a greater capacity to maintain their polyribosome pattern during fasting.
