Pressure drop in structured packings

Abstract

The authors dealt elsewhere with mass transfer in structured packings made from wire gauze. A general correlation was presented that would appear to have applicability to sheet metal as well as to gauze packings, provided that the degree of wetting of the surface is known. In the present article, another general correlation for structured packings is presented, this one for pressure drop. The authors feel that this correlation is applicable to both gauze and sheet metal packings having the same geometry.
