Polycyclocondensation of bis[4‐(4′‐acetylphenoxy)phenyl]‐C,C′‐o‐carborane

Abstract

Abstract A method for synthesizing o‐carborane containing diacetyl arylenes from bisarylacetylenes has been developed. Prepolymers of the polyphenylene type with high solubility and fusibility have been prepared by polycyclocondensation of the resulting bis[4‐(4′‐acetylphenoxy)phenyl]‐C,C′‐o‐carborane with various monoacetylarylenes. The final three‐dimensional polymers are formed by structurization of the prepolymers at 400°C.
