Abstract

A novel 360/spl deg/ analog phase shifter with linear voltage phase relationship utilizing two parallel reflective networks is described. Conventionally, two 180/spl deg/ reflective networks connected in parallel are required to form a 360/spl deg/ linear phase shifter. Such a requirement does not apply in the phase shifter described in this paper. Each reflective network is composed of either two varactors connected in parallel with properly selected transmission line length or one varactor in parallel with open or short stub to form a parallel resonant circuit. The length of the transmission line in each of the reflective networks is selected such that it has nonlinear voltage-phase shift relations, but when these two reflective branches are connected in parallel, they will produce a linear voltage-phase relationship. Measurement results will be presented.
