Abstract

This is really a new edition and not simply a reprint of the previous edition, with slight changes. We may quote from the publisher's announcement the following facts that are borne out by an examination of the volume: Three of the original chapters have been omitted and eight new chapters have been added. Much new material has been incorporated into other chapters. Much of the old text has been compressed. Altogether there are sixty more pages than in the former edition. The book has been brought down to date. There is full consideration of circus movement, the action of quinidin, the origin of extrasystolic disturbances, and the theory of heart block. We may add that the commanding position occupied by Lewis as an authority on the heart, his gift of clear writing, and the excellent work of the publishers, make this a book that students of heart problems will be
