A Contribution to the Development of by Niklaus Wirth and C. A. R. Hoare was the basis for a compiler developed for the IBM 360 at Stanford University. This report is a description of the implemented language, ALGOL W. Historical background and the goals of the language may be found in the Wirth and Hoare paper. This manual refers to the version of the Algol W compiler dated 16 January 1972.
