Occurance and behaviour of uranium and thorium in soil and water

Abstract

Natural contents of uranium (U) and thorium (Th) in igneous rocks are in the range 0.1-5 and 1-20 mg/kg respectively, depending on the type of rock. Felsic rocks, such as granite, usually contain more U and Th than mafic rocks, such as basalt and dunite.
