Abstract

Abstract Several polyethyleneoxide samples of molecular weights ranging from 2000 to 30000 have been studied by means of low‐angle X‐ray diffraction and dilatometry. The thickness of the lamellae and the number of folds of the polymer chains are discussed as a function of molecular weight and of the cristallisation temperature from the melt. The stepwise variation of these parameters, observed for the samples of low degree of polymerisation, vanishes progressively with increasing molecular weight.
