Abstract 4‐Nitrophenyl esters of N ‐methacryloylamino acids and their copolymers with N ‐(2‐hydroxypropyl)‐methacrylamide were synthesized. The effect of the ester and amine structure and of the reaction medium on the rate constant of aminolysis was studied.
