Abstract

This book covers the uses and limitations of vadose zone models and includes guidelines for field collection and data required for calibration and evaluation. Topics considered include terrestrial processes and modeling, transport mechanisms and loss pathways, field validation of fate and transport models, example model testing studies, chemical movement, volatilization, adsorption of organic chemicals, biotransformation, nonbiological transformation, and spatial variability of soil properties.
