Experimental observation of the breaking and recombination of single Cooper pairs

Abstract

The authors measure the splitting of single Cooper pairs by single microwave photons, and their recombination, in a new type of superconducting double quantum dot. They envisage a single-photon detector based on the physical principles involved.
