A case of conjunctivitis ligneosa which occurred in a girl aged 14 months and which was followed‐up for three years is described. The characteristic features of the disease are mentioned. It is concluded from the peculiar circumstance of the case having apparently undergone complete regression following a dental extraction, that the metabolic disturbance in the mucous connective tissue in the conjunctiva is precipitated by a nonbacterial focus via a possibly autoimmune mechanism.
