Relationships between phenylalanine levels, intelligence and socioeconomic status of patients with phenylketonuria

Abstract

Treatment prevented mental retardation in 90.5% of the patients. Control of phenylalanine levels and higher socioeconomic status were associated with higher IQ scores.
