A statistically significant association between handedness of 2-year-old children and the position at birth was found. A larger number of left-handed children were born from the right occiput anterior position than could be accounted for by chance. An association of parental handedness and handedness of the children also was found. The evidence reveals a strong likelihood that there is an innate determinant for handedness.
