The symptoms were due to a non-coronary cause, namely, the "splenic flexure syndrome." A few of the patients had been living the lives of cardiac invalids, retired from useful occupations and with activities markedly restricted. A number of them were sent by their physicians to the Cardiac Section, where no cardiac lesion was found. They were then referred to us for evaluation from a gastrointestinal standpoint.
