The objective of this study is to identify a best practice example of supply chain management within the domestic building and construction industry and use it as a case study of examples of best practice to assist in illustrating to the industry the concepts and initiatives that are at work. This study will focus on the most important supply chain in the construction industry – the information supply chain. To this end, the study will involve only one of the five sub- groups of major participants in the construction industry – project based firms – which includes designers, consultants, engineers, project managers and specialist contractors. The case study is the Bovis Lend Lease Project Web technology, with the National Museum being the example of the Project Web in use in facilitating an electronic Supply Chain. The case study will be analysed in a framework of supply chain management and best practice will be assessed in terms of Australian and international construction best practice. This proposal only addresses a domestic supply chain project.
