Summary The distribution of tritiated l-phenylalanine mustard (l-Sarcolysin) 2 has been studied in rats bearing the Walker 256 carcinosarcoma. Radiactivity was incorporated by the liver, kidney, spleen, intestine, tumor, and to a lesser extent, by the bone marrow, muscle, skin, testes, and brain. When l-phenylalanine mustard (PAM) was given in therapeutic dosages, little or no radioactivity was found in the DNA fractions of any of these tissues, and there was no evidence that the growth of the tumor was inhibited by reaction of the mustard with enzymes, RNA, or DNA within the tumor cells.
