Recently developed analytical procedures (6, 10) have provided adequate means for evaluating the seismic response of soil deposits (7, 9, 10). These procedures involve using an equivalent linear method of analysis whereby the dynamic properties of the soils are chosen on the basis of their variation with the values of strain developed in the various segments of the deposit.
