Threshold approach in environmental planning.

Abstract

Presents findings from two research projects. The first one on 'analyses of geographic environment in planning' was carried out at the Research Institute on Environmental Development in Cracow. The other, following a practical application, commissioned by the US Environmental Protection Agency was on 'method for defining ultimate environmental thresholds (UET) for tourism'. An attempt is made to outline a theoretical base for ecologically sound planning methods, and to present how, in a 'live' situation, a specific method was developed and applied.-from Author
