Abstract

Trivalent europium‐activated yttrium oxysulfide phosphor material prepared by a sulfide fusion method is the primary red material used extensively in color television (CTV) screens. Applying the heterogeneous nucleation theory, we discuss some new results obtained on the formation process of the yttrium oxysulfide system grown on yttrium‐europium oxide using sodium (poly) sulfide flux.
