Abstract

In this chapter we briefly discuss the history of United States higher education and college student development theory, identify some deficiencies and provide perspectives on the concepts of Eurocentricity and Africentricity. We then set forth a rationale and proposed intervention model for the intentional and systematic intellective and psychosocial development of the African American college student.
