A state-of-the-art report is presented on a graphical method for scheduling construction projects. Sometimes called the linear balance method or linear scheduling method, the method is particularly applicable to linear projects such as highways, runways, railways, tunnels and pipelines. A critical review and assessment is made of the method, including its possibilities for use in United States highway construction and maintenance projects.
