In the past few years, power quality has become a popular issue in electrical engineering. In particular, power quality has gained growing attention with the increasing penetration of distributed generation into power networks. On the one hand, concerns that distributed generation could jeopardise the quality of supply have been raised. These fears are fed by the fact that modern electricity applications are more and more sensitive to power quality disturbances. Customers as well as network operators are well aware that reliable and efficient operation of power networks and customers' equipment can only be guaranteed with a high power quality level.
