in order to increase lactate formation remain to be clarified. This has now been done through studies of the isolated enzymes and of steady state glycolysis as a function of Pi with normal and pyruvate kinase-deficient red cells. In addition, these studies make apparent a relation between the level of monophosphoglyceric acids and the regulation of glycolysis at the glyceraldehyde-P dehydrogenase stage.
