This report provides an overview of the impact of ticks and tick-borne diseases (TBDs) on the livelihoods of small-scale and marginalised livestock owners in India and in eastern and southern Africa. The report comprises eight chapters, which following a general introduction, consider the biology and veterinary importance of ticks, the distribution of ticks and tick-born diseases, control methods, the importance of livestock to the poor, the costs of tick-born diseases, current research and its relevance and concludes with a short chapter setting out a number of recommendations.
