We relate the algebraic <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> K K </inline-formula> -theory of the ring of integers in a number field <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> F F </inline-formula> to its étale cohomology. We also relate it to the zeta-function of <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> F F </inline-formula> when <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> F F </inline-formula> is totally real and Abelian. A second appendix, by M. Kolster, explains the connection to the zeta-function and Iwasawa theory.
