Abstract

The application of fundamental principles related to the composition, the making, and the thermal treatment of concrete resulted in the development of a new type of concrete with outstanding mechanical properties. The revolutionary new ultra-high performance concrete, called reactive powder concrete, was used to construct a lightweight space-truss pedestrian bridge over the Magog River in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
