Abstract

Multiple carrier transmission represents a way to cope with the time and frequency selectivity of mobile radio channels. The signals are pulse shaped and transmitted on multiple carriers to reduce the multipath effects. The usually used rectangular or Nyquist root impulses permit a transmission with nearly optimal spectral efficiency, but they are not well localized either in time or in frequency so that the residual intersymbol interference (ISI) and interchannel interference (ICI) lower the system performance. Therefore, we present a new impulse to minimize ISI and ICI.
