Abstract Colorless white Si–O–C(–H) particles with photoluminescence were synthesized from silicone resin precursor. Pyrolysis of the precursor particles in a hydrogen atmosphere was effective for adjustment of resulting carbon content. Analysis of chemical compositions revealed that the resulting materials contained a small amount of hydrogen with Si, O, and C.
