Resonance and antiresonance measurements have been made on NaNO 2 single crystals. Temperature dependence of all piezoelectric constants and five elastic compliance coefficients has been investigated in the range from -50°C to 230°C. The piezoelectric constants d 21 , d 22 and d 23 have values of the order 10 -8 (cgs. esu.) at room temperature, and show pronounced peaks just below the Curie point. The constants d 34 and d 16 are of the order of, 10 -8 (cgs. esu.), and are nearly independent of temperature. The remarkable fact is that d 22 and d 23 change their signs in passing 100°C. Elastic anomalies are observed near the Curie point. Some discussions are made in connection with the ferroelectric properties of NaNO 2 .
