Abstract

In vitro, raised intraperitoneal pressure leads to suppression of tumour growth. In vivo, intraperitoneal tumour growth is suppressed only by higher pressure (15 mmHg). Subcutaneous tumour growth is stimulated by carbon dioxide independently of the intraperitoneal pressure.
