The USArray Initiative

Abstract

At a workshop in Albuquerque, New
\nMexico, in March 1999, jointly sponsored
\nby the National Science Foundation and
\nIRIS (Incorporated Research Institutions
\nfor Seismology), seismologists and geologists
\ndiscussed an ambitious plan to explore, map, and develop an integrated
\nunderstanding of North American geology.
\nProposed is the development of a
\nfacility, USArray, that amounts to a
\n“Hubble telescope for the earth sciences”.
