The author outlines a quick, manual calculation technique to estimate the amount of benzene absorbed in a glycol contactor. To use this method, some information about the quantity of aromatics in the gas stream is required. This technique was developed by analogy since no empirical data are available in the literature for benzene-TEG systems at the concentrations encountered in the glycol dehydrators. It is, however, based on a valid approach, and should give reasonable results for the estimation of aromatic solubilities in glycol systems.
