Summary Antisera reacting specifically with 6.6 S γ, β 2A , or γ 1M antigenic determinants or with type I or II common γ-globulin determinants were prepared on the basis of current understanding of the immunochemical structure of γ-globulin molecules. Purified γ-globulin components were necessary for the preparation and testing of specific antisera. Therefore, methods for preparing and characterizing 6.6 S γ-globulins, β 2A -globulins, and γ 1 -macroglobulins from normal serum and myeloma proteins, γ-macroglobulins, and Bence Jones proteins from appropriate serum and urine are described.
