Abstract

F(ab')(2) antibody is 5–100 times less efficient than intact IgG antibody in inhibiting an in vitro immune response to sheep erythrocytes. This observation constitutes further proof that the Fc portion of antibody possesses an immunoregulatory function which is not dependent on its role in renal tubular reabsorption.
