Abstract

This paper presents a Dynamic Source Routing Protocol using Self Healing and Optimizing Routing Technique based on fuzzy logic concepts. The paths generated by conventional dynamical source routing protocol deviate far from the optimal paths because of the lack of knowledge about the global topology and the mobility of nodes. Routing optimality affects the network performance, especially when the load is high. Longer route consumes more bandwidth, power and is more prone to disconnections. Self Healing and Optimizing Routing Technique (SHORT) is a technique that monitors the route and tries to shorten it, if a short-cut is available. The proposed fuzzy logic method is evaluated and compared with conventional method using GloMoSim. Key words: Mobile Ad hoc Network, SHORT, Neighbor table, Short – cut paths, Time- stamp 1.
