Abstract

The nonlinear response and failure mechanism of reinforced concrete
\nframe-wall systems are investigated through mechanical models for both
\ndynamic loads and static loads.
\nThree mechanical models: a concentrated spring model, a multiple
\nspring model, and a layered model, which take into account inelastic
\nbehavior of a reinforced concrete cantilever beam, are presented. Ten
\nstory reinforced concrete frame-wall structures are investigated. The
\nstiffness characteristics of each constituent member are determined
\nthrough one of the mechanical models by its inelastic properties or by
\na hysteresis model. The procedure of a load increment analysis is used
\nfor a static loading case. The equations of· motion are solved by a
\nstep by step integration procedure for a dynamic loading case. Computed
\nresults are compared with experimental results.
