Abstract

Gender differences in entrepreneurial intentions and agentic traits frequently
\nlinked to entrepreneurship (locus of control, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, risk-taking
\npropensity, and proactiveness) were examined using a sample of Spanish university
\nstudents, 535 women and 283 men. Self-reported data were collected through a
\nquestionnaire consisting of several scales. MANOVA results showed gender
\ndifferences in entrepreneurial intention and entrepreneurial self-efficacy, in the sense
\nthat men felt themselves more efficient and oriented to create a new venture than
\nwomen. Nevertheless, major area and age explained differences in the variables
\nstudied better than gender.
