Abstract

Adult human liver cultures were started from portions of needle aspirations obtained for biopsy. Twenty-four of 28 consecutive cultures survived for varying periods of time. The growth rate and survival of cultures from livers with alcoholic hepatitis were greater than those from normal and alcoholic fatty livers.
