Visuospatial-functioning deficits or limbic lesions, particularly in the temporal lobes, in combination with isolative and ambivalent romantic experiences, may contribute to misinterpretations in erotomania, and deficits in cognitive flexibility may contribute to the maintenance of the delusional belief.
