A methodology for predicting the catalytic metal profiles resulting from a multicomponent impregnation was developed. Each ingredient was classified on the basis of its influence on the adsorption process. A multicomponent adsorption-transport model was used to predict the effects of a competing acid on the catalytic metal profiles. Agreement between the experimental and theoretical adsorption profiles was achieved when the effects of the competing acid on the solution-interface chemistry were incorporated into the multicomponent model.
