The conference is held to foster interaction among thermal engineers from the U.S., Japan, and the nations of the Pacific basin and to be a forum for the dissemination of information concerning the state-of-the-art research and development pertaining to the field of thermal engineering. The importance of thermal engineering has been reconfirmed in new application fields such as material processing, environmental problems, bioengineering, space technologies, supercomputer cooling, and superconductivity applications.
