SUBJECT: a directory driven system for organizing and accessing large statistical databases

Abstract

The term data refers to data bases that are amenable to statistical summaries. These data bases exhibit characteristics that require special techniques for their efficient organization and management. In this paper we describe the concepts, design and capabilities of an existing system for managing statistical data bases.
